About the Department
Systematic Theology
In the context of PTS and in harmony with the current review of the curriculum, the department of systematic is vast as it covers doctrinal issues, ethical questions from Western and African worldview, investigate emerging African theologies and negotiate peace building in African context and beyond. Owing to its theological immensity, the department can in future draft additional sequences. The Department of Systematic Theology applies the three main goals of Spiritual formation, Theological training and Transformational development that the PTS engages in ministerial formation. The aim of the department is to equip PTS students with necessary skills and information on doctrinal gaps and formulate an orderly rational and coherent account of doctrines and contemporary issues of Christian faith and emerging theologies in the context of Africa, to construct key questions of truth and understanding about the mysteries of Christian faith. To study ethical and moral values of Western Christian faith in thought-provoking deliberation of the African Christian context and its ethical foundation. To implement a meaningful inclusive peace dialogue on matters of faith, doctrines and ethical challenges owing to multiple religious arguments on spiritual and social engagements. The department cuts across several theological disciplines and, in its richness, can logically guide and respond to scriptural dialogues in maximum fields of religious study. The department carries fundamental courses with credible credit values mostly at upper level of pastoral formation.
