The department of Biblical studies utilises the three main goals of Spiritual formation, Theological training and Transformational development that PTS employs in her training of Pastors. The aim of the Department is to equip PTS students with the skills and knowledge necessary for a robust engagement of our cultural contexts with a vibrant and effective understanding of the Scriptures. To construct a coherent biblical worldview and grapple with questions that address faith and life. To implement principles for a meaningful method for reading and interpreting Scripture. While recognising the integration of faith and learning in all departments, Biblical Studies plays a distinct role in critically employing epistemological paradigms for interpreting Scripture. Learning how to interpret and apply Scripture correctly is the most important thing that theological students can learn. The Old Testament and New Testament were originally written in Hebrew and Greek respectively so, to study the Old and New Testament in all of its richness, it is best studied from the original languages, rather than in translations. So, the aim of studying biblical languages is for students to learn enough Hebrew and Greek to be able to translate passages from the Old and New Testaments and get the original meaning of biblical texts. This department carries core-courses and they have the highest credit values (CV).
