Presbyterian Theological Seminary Kumba — nurturing men and women in Spiritual Formation, Theological Training, and Transformational Development since 1952.

Our Mission

“To nurture men and women in Spiritual Formation, Theological Training, and Transformational Development for ministerial duties in a multicultural context founded on the Reformed tradition.”

This mission is derived from the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon's Four-Fold Ministry of Healing, Teaching, Preaching, and Liberation based on the Holy Scriptures.

135+ Years of Faithful Witness

From a humble catechist school in 1889 to a graduate seminary — our story is one of perseverance, growth, and God's faithfulness.

Basel Missionaries Open School

Basel Missionaries open a school in Douala to train catechists — the earliest precursor to PTS Kumba.

1890

School Moved to Bonaberi

The school was moved to Bonaberi and upgraded to a Seminary.

Seminary Moved to Buea

The Seminary was relocated to Buea.

Programme Interrupted

The programme was interrupted by World War I.

Reopened in Nyasoso

Reopened in Nyasoso as the Catechist Training Institute (CTI).

First Theological Course offered after World War II.

Theological Training Centre Founded

June 1, 1952: Theological Training Centre opened in Nyasoso — considered the founding date of PTS Kumba.

Relocation to Kumba

April 10, 1988: Seminary transferred from Nyasoso to Kumba, Meme Division, SW Region.

Renamed PTS Kumba

Upgraded to degree-awarding institution and renamed Presbyterian Theological Seminary Kumba.

Government Authorization

Authorized by decree No 07/0139/MINESUP of 21/09/2007.

MTh Programme Launched

First Master of Theology batch admitted, marking entry into postgraduate theological education.
